Independent lab
Run by UNAM engineers at CDMIT, not by us. Methodology and instrumentation reviewed in a peer engineering context.
Multi-hour testing
Three hours of continuous cooling per scenario in a 1496 ft³ sealed enclosure, with five temperature sensors and continuous current monitoring.
Compared to uncovered
Every cover position we sell was measured against the same mini-split running with no cover at all so the comparison is honest.
The data
plain and simple.
The honest answers
-
01
Will the cover-up make my AC work harder?
No. Installed at the recommended 4-inch distance — which the included hardware sets automatically — your mini-split runs the same as it would uncovered. Independently confirmed in UNAM lab testing: current draw stayed low and steady, with no extra cycling.
-
02
Will it raise my electricity bill?
No. In testing, energy use with the cover-up was identical to the uncovered unit: normal, steady, with no additional strain. The 4 inch gap is the whole reason — it keeps the unit on its native operating cycle.
-
03
Will it cool as fast and reach the same temperature?
Yes. The lab measured a final temperature difference of just 0.09 °F between covered and uncovered runs — well inside the margin you'd feel. Stabilization time was 1h 40m covered vs. 2h 44m uncovered, both within the unit's normal range.
-
04
Do I need an HVAC technician to install it?
No. The cover mounts to the wall around your AC it doesn't touch the unit's electrical or refrigerant lines. Most homeowners install it in minutes.
-
05
Can I still clean and service my AC?
Yes. The front panel lifts off the frame whenever you need access. Clean the filter, wipe down vents, or have a technician service the unit as usual then snap the panel back on in seconds.
Breathe in. Breathe art.
A cover-up that doesn't ask your AC to give anything up.
